How much damage can a Tweet do? $50,000 worth according to the property management company Horizon Realty. Amanda Bonnen was staying an apartment at 4242 N. Sheridan, one of over 1,500 apartments owned by the company. The Tweet, “Who said sleeping in a moldy apartment was bad for you? Horizon realty thinks it’s okay,” posted under the now defunct user name @abonnen, was the impetus for the libel lawsuit filed at Cook County Circuit Court, seeking $50,000 in damages.Although the Tweet and username are now deleted, accessing the account via Google’s cache shows it has around 20 followers. While the numbers could have dropped since deletion, it doesn’t appear the message would have travelled far. Can anybody say Streisand effect? via Mashable.

Facebook overtakes Myspace. For the first time, according to the latest data from Compete, Facebook outdrew MySpace in terms of unique visitors. But Facebook isn’t the fastest growing network. Twitter’s numbers grew 27.6% in December, and 752% for the year. LinkedIn is up 152% for the year. In fact, the only one here that’s losing traffic is MySpace. They better figure out a way to grab a new audience, and fast. Their demographic is growing up.
